Many academics experience an overly one-sided emphasis on research performance, resulting in an excessive urge to publish and an even higher workload. Other qualities of academics, such as teaching, impact, leadership and patient care, remain underexposed as a result. But this is changing thanks to the national program Recognition & Rewards which seeks to rebalance the perception of academic work. As an academic employee, you are
key to this change.

Together with other Dutch knowledge institutions and research funding bodies, Amsterdam UMC wants to gain more insight into the developments surrounding the Recognition & Rewards program, which started in 2019, and all academic staff have recently received an email questionnaire. Whether you are an enthusiastic PhD student or a seasoned professor, an inspiring associate professor or a passionate Principal Investigator, your opinion is worth its weight in gold.

The deans of the faculties of Medicine, Yvo Roos (UvA) and Saskia Peerdeman (VU), both underline the importance of the Recognition & Rewards questionnaire: "Your experiences are crucial to paint a representative picture of how Amsterdam UMC recognizes and appreciates the work of academics. Therefore, fill out the survey and let your opinion be heard."

Confidential
Fill out the questionnaire today as the deadline is fast approaching. You can cast your vote until Sunday February 11th, 23.59. The questionnaire has been administered by independent research bureau Berenschot, and your answers will be kept confidential. The data collected will be used for an overarching report, the Recognition & Rewards Culture Barometer', and specific reports per organization. These reports are expected to be ready before summer.
