About us
The Gastenverblijf is located next to the hospital, but away from the hospital atmosphere. Family members, partners and friends of patients can stay here in guest rooms equipped with ample domestic facilities. The interior and colours of the Gastenverblijf exude an atmosphere of warmth and rest. Spacious rooms, each with its own bathroom offer all modern conveniences to ensure a pleasant stay. The Gastenverblijf is also open to patients undergoing intensive outpatient treatment.
The Guesthouse was officially opened by Her Royal Highness Princess Margriet on September 19th, 1997. The Guesthouse is a registered charity organisation according to the principles of the Dutch Central Bureau on Fundraising (CBF) .
Donations
We feel privileged to have a team of more than 80 dedicated volunteers. They will do everything possible to make guests feel at home. Without their efforts the Gastenverblijf would simply not exist.
Thanks to the many generous gifts from companies, institutions, churches, clubs, schools and private persons, it was possible for the VUmc to create this accommodation in May 1997. The Gastenverblijf has been registered as a separate foundation.

Patient Care
When your partner, family member or friend has been admitted to the VU University Medical Center (VUmc) you will undoubtedly want to stay close by. The patient too will feel reassured knowing that a loved one is nearby. Amsterdam UMC, location VUmc offers such a facility in a separate unit called the Gastenverblijf (Guesthouse).

You can make a request for a room directly by telephone or you can ask the nursing staff to contact us.
