EVERYTHING YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT RISK COMMUNICATION

The RISC Amsterdam research group will organize the APH-QoC lunch meeting. RISC Amsterdam broadly investigates the topic of risk communication within health (care) research. Did you always want to know more about risk communication? Or do you know nothing but are just curious? Join this lunch meeting, because risk communication is everywhere in health and healthcare!

We explore themes such as:

  • Why do laypeople think differently than experts about the benefits and necessity of vaccines and preventive screening?
  • How are the benefits and harms of medical interventions communicated to the public, what is going well and what could be improved?
  • Why do numbers remain so abstract for patients? How can we translate numbers into meaningful information to facilitate shared decision making?
  • How can we support all patients and citizens, regardless of their socio-economic background, health literacy or numeracy, in making informed decisions?

We will give a brief introduction to the subject and then answer all your questions!
