You are warmly invited for the symposium on methodological issues in the research of musculoskeletal disorders
Amsterdam Movement Sciences
'Degenerative meniscal surgery versus physiotherapy: non-inferiority trials and marker-by-treatment analyses'
Speakers:
1) Prof Rudolf Poolman: professor in Orthopaedics, in particular health care evaluation at the LUMC. He has ample experience in both the clinical domain and the research domain in Orthopaedics.
Title: 'Non-inferiority trials and minimal important difference in surgical trials'
In his presentation Rudolf will focus on pros and cons of the non-inferiority trials. Also he will discuss the concept of Minimal Important Difference (MID) and how that relates to non-inferiority trials. He will present those issues within the framework of the ESCAPE trial.
2) Julia Noorduyn: Julia worked as the ESCAPE trial coordinator during her PhD. Within her PhD she also explored some new avenues in research. One of those avenues concerned a novel approach in orthopedic research to identify relevant treatment selection markers that affect treatment outcome following meniscal surgery or physical therapy in patients with degenerative meniscal tears.
