You are warmly invited to join this symposium on the occasion of Nina van Mastrigt's PhD defense titled 'Exploration in reward-based motor learning'.
In this symposium, various questions on variability in the context of motor learning will be discussed: what are different types of variability, what is their definition, how can we learn from variability and how can we measure it? Our three speakers Marit Ruitenberg (U. Leiden), Jean-Jacques Orban de Xivry (KU Leuven) and Pieter Medendorp (Radboud U.) will discuss their insights from experiments in the lab. The symposium will end with a panel discussion lead by Katinka van der Kooij (VU Amsterdam) between the speakers and John van der Kamp (VU Amsterdam) on how we can translate insights from the lab to daily life contexts such as sports and rehabilitation.
