General
The Alzheimer Center Amsterdam is organizing a series of lectures on the latest developments in dementia research. Dr. Montoliu-Gaya is an instrumental scientist at the Department of Neuroscience and Physiology at University of Gothenburg. Her recent works in the field of fluid biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease have been recognised on the world-stage. She is the inventor of a mass spectrometry method to determine the best blood tau variant as a biomarker of Alzheimer’s disease pathology at different clinical stages. In addition, she is a co-inventor of a digital immunoassay for the quantification of p-tau205 inhuman biofluid and has also performed extensive work in diagnosing Alzheimer's disease in individuals with Down syndrome. Lastly, Dr. Montoliu-Gaya has led research in translating blood tests to simpler methods for community-based or primary care-based collection (e.g., finger-based collection on dry blood spots).
