Theme PROMs in care and research

We hereby invite you to join the symposium ‘The need for implementing, harmonizing, and standardizing PROMs in care and research’ on Tuesday morning December 10, location VU Griffioen.

The symposium is organized by the PROM Expertise Center, led by dr. Lotte Haverman, associate professor at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychosocial Care department of the Emma Children’s Hospital and Amsterdam Public Health research institute.

A stimulating morning is expected, with speakers on topics like Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), PROMIS, Shared decision making using PROMs, and PROM use in integrated care networks, followed by a panel discussion. In addition, participants will be invited in group discussions to elaborate on relevant outcomes for patients, and barriers in PROM use.

The following presenters will tell you about their work on PROMs:

  • 9.00-10.00 In this interactive opening session, Dr. Lotte Haverman (associate professor Pediatric Psychology and PROMs) will present about the use and effectiveness of PROMs in care and research. In addition, she will elaborate on barriers and facilitators when implementing PROMs, and how to use PROMs to facilitate Shared-Decision Making.
  • 10.00-10.30 Dr. Benjamin Schalet (assistant professor Epidemiology and Data Science) will present the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) and the added value of generic measures, Item Response Theory (IRT) and cross-walks.
  • 10.30-10.45 Break
  • 10.45-11.15 Prof. dr. R.M. van den Berg-Vos is a neurologist at both OLVG en Amsterdam UMC, and will talk about the use of PROMs for patients with CVA in the region.
  • 11.15-12.00 Panel discussion and interactive session with the audience
  • 12.00-13.00 Lunch in Bar Boele
