The language used for the opposition and defence is Dutch. For a non-Dutch speaker the language is English. A (native) Dutch speaker wishing to defend in English will need the permission of the dean, through the Office of Doctorate Affairs
In case one or more of the voting members of the Doctorate Committee is/are unable to attend, one or more guest opponents need to be invited on the recommendation of the supervisor by sending a request to the dean, through the Office of Doctorate Affairs (see also 'Tips')
Supervisor(s) inform(s) the dean/chairperson about the order of the opposition during the public defence by email. It is necessary to mention names, including the title of opponent, affiliation and expertise/teaching commitment on the form
