Research of the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) of Amsterdam UMC involves the diagnosis and treatment of tumors and inflammatory disorders of the jaw bones and cervicofacial soft tissues. In addition, aspects of surgical procedures / techniques are investigated. 

About us

The mission of the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) of Amsterdam UMC is to to contribute to both basic knowledge and patient prospects by integrating research and patient care at an academic level.

Research

The research focuses on clinical problems in selected groups of patients. This is preferably performed in prospective, randomized controlled clinical trials. Considering the departmental size, the ambition is to excel in a limited number of subjects.

Research is carried out in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery AMC and affiliated hospitals and the departments of Translational Physiology and Pediatric Oncology.
