General
The Joep Lange Chair and Fellows Symposium is an annual symposium held by AIGHD tackling the intersections of Global Health and different issues and developments across our society and the world. This year, the theme is ‘Predicting the Futures of Global Health’ and focuses on how developments in Big Data, Mathematical Modeling, Digital Imaging, and Artificial Intelligence change and have changed the way we approach global health such as disease spread and epidemiology.
Speakers
Our recently announced speakers are the following: (1) Professor Sharifah Sekalala, Professor of Global Law at the University of Warwick and (2) Professor Christophe Fraser, Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Oxford. Professor Fraser will talk about how combined developments in quantitative epidemiology, phylogenetics, and the social sciences will help us accelerate the decline of the AIDS epidemic in Southern Africa. Meanwhile, Professor Sekalala will talk about an analytic perspective on the legal issues surrounding digital health surveillance and innovation.
Masterclass
We are also hosting a Masterclass being led by Professor Menno Pradhan and Professor Colin Russell (with two more Masters to be announced soon). The Masterclass is for early-career Postdocs and late-stage PhDs who wish to share their research and get feedback from our masters. I think this would be a great opportunity for the researchers at the Amsterdam UMC. People who wish to share their research must submit an abstract and can do so here.
