Bibian van der Voorn, MD PhD and projectleader of Care for Obesity, faculty of Health Science VU Amsterdam will give a presentation about:

Facilitators and barriers of measuring patient-reported outcomes measures in pediatric patients with obesity

Most medical doctors have experience the importance of incorporating patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) in personalized treatment and shared decision making. Yet different practical barriers influence the use of PROMS in daily practices.

She would like to share concrete examples of how PROMs provide valuable insights into patients' quality of life, symptoms, and treatment effectiveness. Including the use of digital tools, allowing for real-time data collection and enhanced patient engagement.

While it is clear that PROMS have a high potential, implementation challenges and potential time constraints should also be considered. It is questionable whether the transition towards a situation in which making use of PROMs should be mandatory helps to accelerate this.
