Dr. Joeri Tijdink is the new Chair of the APH Scientific Quality Committee as of January 1st 2025. Joeri Tijdink was already a member of the SQC and has now been appointed as the chair, succeeding Prof. Carlo Schuengel.
Joeri Tijdink is a Principal Investigator at the Ethics, Law and Humanities department of the Amsterdam UMC. His main research focuses on research integrity, reproducibility, mental health in academia, research culture, publication pressure, open science, and the fair and responsible assessment of research and researchers. With his background in research integrity and a genuine interest in improving research culture, he aims to contribute to a more supportive academic environment that promotes high-quality, responsible research. Apart from his work as a researcher, he is also a clinical psychiatrist.
The SQC is a committee within APH that promotes research quality within APH, and provides the APH Board of Directors with (un)solicited advice regarding APH scientific quality policy. The coming period Joeri will lead the SQC to realize its goals to foster a learning community of APH researchers with regards to research quality, through tools and services such as the APH Research Quality Visits and APH Research Quality Handbook. Additionally, the SQC will continue to encourage the use of Open Science practices and addressing developments that impact research within APH.
