PhD candidate Katja Aid, who visited the Myology Lab at VU Amsterdam over the last year, won the best poster award from the annual meeting of the Scandinavian Physiological Society in Stockholm. The work that Katja performed under the supervision of dr. Rob Wüst was to study how cigarette smoking causes alterations in cardiac metabolism, and can ultimately contribute to cardiac dysfunction typically seen in (ex-)smokers. The prize consisted of a small trophy, and reimbursement of all conference costs.
