The Dutch Cancer Society (KWF) has funded five fundamental research projects at Cancer Center Amsterdam with a total of 1.9 million euros.

The awarded projects are part of the second funding round of 2022, intended for fundamental research that is essential for breakthroughs in the prevention, detection, and treatment of cancer. The first round focused on applied research. Two more rounds will follow later this year.

Grantees:

  • Prof. Jan Paul Medema. The family of BCL-2 proteins as a therapeutic target in prevention and treatment of colon cancer (€ 751,882.50).
  • Dr. Florent Moulière. MEGAREx: Machine Enhances GliomA Recurrence Detecion. (€631,067.90).
  • Prof. Louis Vermeulen. The classic conditioning of immunotherapy to improve cancer treatments (€163,800.00).
  • Dr. Josephine Dorsman. Human genes critically involved in protecting against metabolically induced oxidative stress (€158,696.40.)
  • Dr. Marieke Fransen. Use of spontaneous antibody responses against tumors as a biomarker and enhancer of anti-tumor immune responses (€192,450.50).
