Work by Isa H. Mast, MSc, former student with the research master Human Movement Sciences, has been published in NeuroImage. Isa was supported by an Amsterdam Movement Sciences Talent Grant 2020 to extend her MSc internship graduation project at the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, under supervision of dr. ir. Ot Bakermans. The publication in NeuroImage reports on the acute effects of physical exercise on blood flow through the carotids and the brain. Isa used various advanced MRI techniques to quantify the cerebral perfusion in volunteers who performed an exercise test on a bicycle ergometer inside the 3 Tesla MRI scanner. Her results show that perfusion of the motor cortex increases during exercise, while perfusion of the brain as a whole decreases during exercise. These innovative methods can be a valuable approach to investigate the benefit of exercise for cerebrovascular health and cognitive function. Isa H. Mast, Koen P.A. Baas, Harald T. Jørstad, John C.
