Focus of research

I am a PhD student in the department of psychiatry at the Amsterdam UMC. I started in the field of complex human trait genetics during my MSc thesis looking for shared genetic variance underlying a wide variety of complex traits. This research completed my MSc degree in Bioinformatics at the Wageningen University of Research. Given my deep interest in human genetics and my background in bioinformatics, which is all about navigating through vast amounts of biological data, I feel in my element as a researcher studying complex trait genetics. In my PhD I continue employing such analyses focusing on getting a better understanding of genetic effect estimates coming from genome-wide association studies.
