Focus of research
My research focus is on:
- Developing innovative training and learning programs, and instruments for moral reflection and moral learning of (healthcare) professionals, aiming to develop moral competencies and dialogical/reflection skills. In line with the topic of my thesis (Title: Learning by doing. Developing Moral Case Deliberation in Health Care) I’ve been occupied in the past decade with developing a broad range of learning trajectories and instruments about moral reflection for (healthcare) professionals including a solid training program for facilitators Moral Case Deliberation (national and international) and a Train-the-Trainer program for trainers that train facilitators Moral Case Deliberation. Next to this I’ve been actively involved in developing other types of e-learning and blended learning programs designed by the department Ethics, Law and Humanity (such as CURA and Virt2ue training).
- Researching via qualitative and quantitative methods, the impact of the above-mentioned learning trajectories (Moral Case Deliberation and training program facilitator Moral Case Deliberation) and the development of expertise of Ethics Support Staff.
- Making impact. Within the scope of valorisation, I supervised in the past three years the process of designing and developing an expertise centre (xendens.nl). Currently I’m the director and within this role I focus on developing and professionalising all support services offered by the department (ELH) regarding the content (expertise), organisation (strategically, online learning platform, PR Communication), didactics and innovative ways to pass the expertise (e-learning, blended learning).
