PURE offers a snapshot of Amsterdam UMC’s research at a glance, displaying figures like the total "Research Output" of 207,798 publications and 1,064 awards in the “trophy case.” Through the portal, research institutes, departments, and individual researchers can present the collective achievements of Amsterdam UMC. Each researcher also has an official profile on PURE that includes a summary of their work—an impressive calling card, especially useful when applying for grants. This profile is also presented on the research website of Amsterdam UMC.
Highlighting Social Impact
Currently, the portal provides essential information such as researcher profiles, awards, publications, and datasets. According to Lieuwe Kool, a member of the PURE team, "We hope to expand this content next year with a 'social impact' section, allowing us to highlight guidelines and policy documents that draw on our scientific work.”
Data Verification
In recent months, the PURE team has worked intensively to merge and verify over 250,000 articles and datasets from the AMC and VUmc locations. Around 3,000 researchers were found to have duplicate registrations. Kool notes, “The Medical Library will continue to keep profiles up-to-date using sources like PeopleSoft, Scopus, and Elsevier. However, we still encourage all researchers to review their own data in the new system soon and update details as needed, such as their research focus or profile picture.”
