Amsterdam institute for Immunology and Infectious diseases
In November 2021 Amsterdam UMC signed the Transparency agreement on animal testing. With this commitment Amsterdam UMC, together with 20 other Dutch organisations, endorses the importance of good and transparent communication regarding animal testing.
During this symposium Amsterdam UMC wants to discuss why and when laboratory animals are still used in research at Amsterdam UMC. In addition, innovations with non-animal methods and models will be shown.
The following questions will be discussed: What is the current status of the transition to non-animal testing and for which research questions can the Amsterdam UMC not for the time being do without animals? What innovations do researchers need in the future and what steps do they need to take?
Besides an explanation of the current state of affairs and examples from practice, panel members will hold an interactive discussion and there will be an opportunity to ask questions.
