The 2025 international Work visit grant will be open for subission at December 1st, 2024

  • Open for AI&I PhD students, Postdocs and Technicians
  • To visit a research (lab-) facility abroad in 2025.
  • Deadline submission proposal - February 1st, 2025

Aim

To stimulate young talent within the Amsterdam institute for Immunology & Infectious diseases to visit a research institute abroad for a period of 1-4 month to actively build their CV and network, while also obtaining new knowledge (techniques, samples, data, competences etc.) valuable to AI&I.

Who van apply

  • PhD students in their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year
  • Postdocs in the first 3 years after obtaining their PhD-degree
  • Technicians

What can be applied for

A maximum of 5000 euro can be applied for tot fund visits that starts before September 2025 and have a duration of 1 to 4 months.

Eligible costs include: Travel costs (economy class) to and from the hosting site, rent of accommondation, local public transport and (lab-)consumables. Only completed application forms are eligible for evaluation.

Eligibility criteria

  • The applicant must be either a 2nd, 3rd or 4th year PhD student (according to enrollment at the doctoral school), a postdoc within 3 years after obtaining his/her PhD-degree or a technician.
  • The applicant is embedded in at least one of the AI&I programs.
  • The work visit grant of 5000 euro will only fund international visits that starts before September 2025 and that have a duration of 1 to 4 months.
  • The visit results in new knowledge (techniques, samples, data, competences etc.) or new collaborations valuable to AI&I researchers and clinians.
  • If you have already been awarded an AI&I work visit grant in the past, you cannot submit another application.
  • Only completed application forms (including a summary of expected expenses) forms are eligible for evaluation.

Travel costs (economy class) to and from host site, housing, local public transport and (lab-)consumables.

    • Motivation of candidate to visit the selected site
    • Scientific quality and relevance of the work plan
    • Innovative potential and value for AI&I

    Selection procedure

    The AI&I grant committee will evaluate the applications based on the afore mentioned criteria.A maximum of 4 applications will be granted, provided that the applications are sufficient research quality.

    Detailed information about the reviewing procedure:

      • The proposals will be reviewed by the AI&I grant committee.
      • The AI&I directors will make the ultimate decision on the applications to be granted, based on the ranking provided by the AI&I grant committee.
      • The deadline for the directors to approve the ranking will at the end of March 2025.

      Requirements after obtaining the AI&I Work Visit Grant

      • Refer to the AI&I international work visit grant in the acknowledgements of any publications resulting from the research funded by this grant by adding "This research was supported by the international Work Visit Grant of the Amsterdam institute for Immunology & Infectious diseases" to the acknowledgements.
      • Refer to the Amsterdam institute for Immunology & Infectious diseases when communicating about this grant, e.g. in the (social) media.
      • Send us a picture of you in front of the institute that you visit and/or together with the other lab members in the lab.
      • For reimbursement, send us a completed expenses list with the original tickets and receipts attached within three months after your return.
      • Send us a short report on how the work visit helped you to obtain new techniques etc. valuable to AI&I. Also suggestions to improve the grant are welcome
