Methods suitable for measuring in the field - pros and cons of these methods

Currently there are multiple methods available for measuring athletic behavior in the field. These measurements can help athletes and coaches in optimizing performance and sport scientists in collecting data for scientific purposes. In this presentation Ola Elfmark will address the pros and cons of different methods, sensors and technologies suitable for measuring individual sports in the field.

Ola Elfmark obtained a master degree in aerodynamics and worked with aerodynamics in skiing in Norway. Recently he defended his PhD thesis at the NTNU in Trondheim on the topic “Aerodynamics and its Relationship with Kinematics and Performance in Ski Jumping” where he investigated how the aerodynamical forces influence performance in Ski Jumping. He is the project leader for the research and development projects related to aerodynamics at the Norwegian Olympic Committee since 2018. He worked for the national alpine, ski jumping, biathlon and cross-country team, national speed skating team as well as for cyclists. He is a former pro-cyclist and won ones a national title on the team time trial.

After his PhD he continued working for the Norwegian Olympic Committee and works as a Post Doc at NTNU SenTIF (Center for Elite Sports Research, https://www.ntnu.edu/sentif ).
