Theme ‘Challenges in prenatal detection of clubfeet, Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC) and Fetal Akinesia Deformation Sequence (FADS).’
Language English

General

Background: The challenge in prenatal detection of clubfeet, AMC and FADS (and other underlying diseases) is the awareness that onset, etiology and expression vary. Internationally prenatal detection of the frequently occurring clubfeet is high in contrast to the rare diseases AMC and FADS, despite the fact that first expression can be uni- or bilateral clubfeet.

Experts from various disciplines are invited to highlight aspects in the evaluation of fetuses with contractures, from a single clubfoot to multiple contractures in various regions. Applied methods to enhance prenatal detection are presented by illustrating activities within our multidisciplinary care pathway (sonographers, obstetricians, clinical geneticists, child orthopedic surgeons, rehabilitation doctors, child neurologists, paediatricians, anatomical pathologists, social workers, patient support groups).
