We are proud to announce that dr. E. Marelise W. Eekhoff, internist-endocrinologist, has been appointed full professor of Rare Bone Diseases as of June 1, 2024.

'This appointment is a significant recognition for the Rare Bone Disease Center at Amsterdam UMC (a member of ERN BOND), exemplifying intensive and translational collaboration between Amsterdam UMC, AMS, ACTA, and many other disciplines. The appointment is coordinated by the departments of Endocrinology & Metabolism and Human Genetics. The center for rare bone diseases is designed in such a way that it has led to the development of the Amsterdam Bone Center (ABC) and continues to make a major contribution to it. The ABC is an open, flat organization where the many bone-related care and research of Amsterdam UMC and ACTA is brought together to promote collaboration and innovative research.’

In the picture above, you see a frame capture from a video titled 'Meet Marelise Eekhoff' (by IFOPA), in which she discusses Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP). This is just one of several videos she has collaborated on for the Amsterdam Bone Center and FOP (see also FOP video by Paul Enkelaar). This exemplifies both her scientific and societal outreach.

Congratulations to Marelise Eekhoff on her appointment as full professor of Rare Bone Diseases.
