Wendy Scholten-Peeters has been appointed full Professor of 'Working Mechanisms and Management Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy' at the Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Netherlands on October 1, 2024. Her position is embedded within Amsterdam Movement Sciences Research Institute.

Together with her multidisciplinary teams, professor Scholten-Peeters will advance musculoskeletal health and physiotherapy by investigating the pathophysiology of musculoskeletal pain (e.g., neck pain and back pain), the mechanisms behind musculoskeletal physiotherapy, developing innovative and digital personalized interventions, evaluating the (cost-)effectiveness of these interventions, and assessing the safety of musculoskeletal treatments. Furthermore, emphasis will be placed on translating these findings into clinical practice, education, and broader societal impact.

Professor Scholten-Peeters inaugural lecture is scheduled for Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 15:45 in the Auditorium of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (see also the event on the right hand side).
