We are thrilled to congratulate Suzanne Fustolo-Gunnink from Amsterdam UMC, who is affiliated with our research institute, on receiving the prestigious Early Career Award from the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW).

This award recognizes the scientific talent of young researchers conducting innovative and original work. Suzanne is awarded €15,000 and a unique piece of art for her outstanding contributions.

Suzanne's research focuses on transfusions in premature infants, who often suffer from anemia or a shortage of platelets. To explore when doctors decide to administer a transfusion, she has established a European network that has led to the creation of an international guideline for red blood cell transfusions. Suzanne is affiliated with the Landsteiner Lab, a collaboration between Amsterdam UMC (Emma Children’s Hospital) and Sanquin.

The KNAW will present the Early Career Awards on November 26. For more details about the awards and other recognitions, please read the full article.
