Focus of research
Within her current role, Miranda investigates neural mechanisms underlying human cognition. Her current research encompasses two pivotal projects.
The first project investigates the relationship between single-cell and network excitability in human intelligence. This study integrates single-cell electrophysiological data with EEG/MEG recordings and biophysical microcircuit modeling, aiming to elucidate the interplay between individual neuron behavior and broader network activity in intelligence.
The second project investigates the phenomenon of faster signaling kinetics in human cortical neurons. Miranda's research focuses on whether aspects of the calcium and potassium pathways in neuronal signaling influence this phenomenon, utilizing single-cell electrophysiology to uncover these mechanisms.
