Focus of research
I am a post-doctoral researcher in the Medical Informatics group at AMC. I work on data analysis and data management, specifically the FAIRification of data. Most of my education and work has been in interdisciplinary fields, I thrive in the intersection of technology with biology.
I have performed several integrative data analyses on omics data on model organisms to better understand the digestive system. It was during this time that I realized the advantages of going FAIR. I am enthusiastic about the benefits that FAIR data can bring to data sharing and analysis.
The challenge of making data interoperable is quite intriguing and I am exploring the role of ontologies, ontological models and standard data models in customized solutions in the project EJP RD. The process of making data FAIR can be overwhelming so I am working on breaking this process down with the use-case of rare disease registries and other rare disease resources, to allow for federated analyses on FAIR data.
