General
After 41 years as a researcher at the Netherlands institute of Neuroscience and later also Amsterdam UMC, Prof Andries Kalsbeek will retire later this year. On the occasion of his retirement a symposium is organized on November 28, 2025, 09:00-17:00, collegezaal 4.
Over the years, many of Dries’ former PhD/MSc students have built careers across the globe, spanning both academic and non-academic sectors. To celebrate this rich diversity of career trajectories and honor achievements of alumni, we have organized a symposium titled:
“Everything you always wanted to know, but were afraid to ask,
about a career after your biomedical PhD”
The symposium consists of three sessions:
- Careers Beyond Academia
- Careers in Basic Neuroscience
- Careers From Bench to Bed side
A preliminary program is attached.
The different speakers will highlight the diverse opportunities available to those currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD in biomedical sciences. We're excited to showcase the diverse and successful paths Dries’s alumni have taken. Dries is particularly enthusiastic about informing the new generation about future possibilities and career potential.
