General
On the 3rd of July 2025 (10.00-11.00, online) the PROM implementation research network organizes their third meeting titled Focusing on ‘Next-Gen PROMs: Adaptive, Efficient, and Patient-Centered’.
The PROM implementation research network was founded in 2023 by the PROM Expertise Center, with support from APH Personalized Medicine & Quality of Care. The aim of this network is to bring together researchers and healthcare professionals to discuss the latest developments in the field of PROM research, and to inspire and connect with each other to support both research on and the implementation of PROMs in daily clinical care.
During the upcoming meeting, prof. dr. Caroline Terwee will discuss the value of Item Response Theory (IRT) and item banks in adapting existing PROMs to specific target populations, rather than developing entirely new ones.
Prof. Terwee is the head of the Dutch-Flemish PROMIS National Center and professor of Outcome Measurements in Healthcare at Amsterdam UMC. Her research focuses on improving the quality and standardization of measurement instruments, particularly patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs).
The presentation will give insight in promising features of IRT, using PROMIS as an example, and include practical applications such as the ikHerstel app. During the meeting, there will be plenty of room for questions and a nice discussion!
