To do:
PhD candidates invest a great deal of time and effort not only in the content of their thesis, but also in the design of the book. For several years now, the Amsterdam UMC Doctoral School has annually awarded jury prizes to three dissertations with the most outstanding cover and layout, designed by the PhD candidate themselves and defended at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Amsterdam or VU University Amsterdam.
This year, for the first time, an audience award will be introduced, alongside a single jury prize.
PhD candidates can submit their thesis for nomination at any time. To be eligible for an award, the cover and layout must demonstrate artistic quality, relevance, and originality.
*If you wish to compete for the PhD Thesis Design 2026 awards, please send your thesis to the Doctoral School no later than 1 November 2026. If this is not feasible, for example because you are graduating in December, send an email to the Doctoral School.
Requirements, selection
Requirements
- You defend(ed) your thesis at the Faculty of Medicine of University of Amsterdam or VU University Amsterdam in the year 2026.
