Before submitting your PhD thesis for assessment, your training portfolio must be approved by your Research Institute in Hora Finita.
To do
- Make sure you have completed the required training programme (at least 30 ECTS).
- Upload certificates or other proof of completed courses, training and activities to your portfolio in Hora Finita.
- Ask your supervisor to review and approve your activities.
- After your supervisor’s approval, submit the portfolio in Hora Finita to the PhD Committee of your Research Institute for final assessment.

Note: PhD candidates who started their trajectory before 1 April 2015 and were not given the opportunity to apply for formal admission before that date are exempt from the training requirement. However, candidates in this group are required to complete a course in scientific integrity.

Note: In addition to the VU Doctorate Regulations the Amsterdam UMC Executive Board has specified additional requirements (by decision 7 July 2021), to harmonize the rules that apply to PhD students preparing a doctorate at either university in Amsterdam. This means that in addition to the VU Doctorate Regulations article 15, the thesis must contain a portfolio of education (guideline 30 ECTS).
