Which role do researchers play during the coronavirus crisis, and what is the relationship between science and politics in this crisis? How much budget do politicians think should be allocated to research and innovation? What do the political parties think about the call from entrepreneurs and researchers to allow investments in research and innovation to grow by 300 - 380 million euros per year over the next 10 years? And what will the parties do about the work pressure of researchers?
The debate will take place on Wednesday 17 February from 10:00 hours to 11:00 hours CET in Nieuwpoort and will be broadcasted live. Due to the current COVID-19 measures, no audience can be present. The debate can be followed online by registering on the NWO registration page. Interested persons can submit questions in advance and also respond live during the debate.
For researchers and research institutions, subjects such as knowledge, innovation and science, how political parties think about the various issues that play a role, which solutions they put forward and where their opinions agree or differ is, of course, interesting to see. These subjects will probably not be major themes in the national election campaign, and they do not usually get the attention they deserve from the media. Therefore, NWO is organising this online election debate to obtain insight into these themes.
