This generous grant allows for the completion of the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for HAMstringinjury (HOTHAM) trial. This prospective clinical trialaims to evaluate the effect of hyperbaric oxygen therapy on recovery following acute hamstring injuries in (elite) military personnel and athletes. Hamstring injury is the most common injury. Despite increased use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy there is limited evidence of its efficacy. The HOTHAM trial has been designed, which aims to provide the first large-scale prospective clinical to investigate this treatment modality in muscle injuries.
