On Thursday December 12, three students of the research master track of Human Movement Sciences at VU Amsterdam were each awarded a €3.000 grant to support their research project and enable them to develop academically.

The submitted proposals were judged by a jury consisting of Dr. Niels Waterval (chair), Dr. Ot Bakermans, Heleen Docter and Lisa Vossen. The three winners of this year's AMS RMA grant are:

  • Elise van ‘t Hof: Network analysis to Explore the Interconnections Between Environmental Walkability, Intrinsic Capacity Domains and Physical Activity Levels in Older Adults. Supervisor: Professor dr. Mirjam Pijnappels, Department of Human Movement Sciences, VU Amsterdam;
  • Floris Paalman: Human Spaceflight on Earth: Comparative Analysis of Dry Immersion, Head Down Tilt Bed Rest and Spaceflight. Supervisor: Dr. Rob Wüst, Department of Human Movement Sciences, VU Amsterdam;
  • Ilse Boot: An optimal control modelling approach as the basis for developing an evidence-based para-cycling, Supervisor: Dr. Dinant Kistemaker, Department of Human Movement Sciences, VU Amsterdam;

The grants will support the students to bring their innovative ideas to life, contribute to their field of study, and help them gain valuable experience in the research process.
