At the research unit of Medical Microbiology and Infection Control (MMI) of Amsterdam UMC, location VUmc we focus on understanding the behavior of pathogens in relation to its environment.

We perform fundamental research in which we study molecular mechanisms that are involved in virulence. On top of that, we also perform applied research that emphasizes more on therapeutics or bacteria as a treatment tool.
