Research on hand and wristsurgery of the department of Plastic Reconstructive and Hand Surgery of Amsterdam focuses on minimal invasive techniques in corrective osteotomy of the distal radius. 

Research

Our research is done in close cooperation with the department of medical fysics and on handfunction in encephalopathy. Research (congenital) focusses on vascular malformations and hemangiomas / congenital nevi. .

The departement has 2 research topics hooked on the 2 main points in patient care:

  1. hand and wrist deformities and
  2. pediatric( congenital) plastic surgery.

Both topics are long lasting research projects. The department aims at one PhD a per year. Next years we will focus on obtaining new grants to expand our research possibilities.
