27 Semi-finalists
Until May 7th, researchers, students, and staff from all disciplines of participating Amsterdam universities, colleges, academic medical centers, and NWO institutes could submit a smart, innovative idea that could benefit society. Out of all submissions, 27 semi-finalists have been selected.
A Better World
Now it's up to the voters and a professional jury (led by Ruben Brave) to determine which semi-finalists will be allowed to present their idea during the final event on November 21st at the NEMO Science Museum in Amsterdam. Which innovative idea do you believe contributes to a better world?
"AmSIA has meant a lot to the project team with which we won two years ago. Following the press release after the AmSIA award and the interview with BNR, a company approached us that is likely to bring our urine meter to the market. Licensing discussions are progressing steadily. In addition, since AmSIA, we have raised €280,000 from sources including NWO and are working diligently to get the urine meter approved for use in the European Union. Winning the AmSIA award has truly been a kickstarter for our project." - Tom Brouwer (Amsterdam UMC) - AmSIA winner 2021
In each of the three categories: Society, Health, and Environment & Climate, the finalists ultimately have a chance to win a prize of €10,000.
