In this 6th edition of the ACS magazine several topics that are central to ACS are covered, such as citizen science and animal(free) science. With several interviews different aspects of valorisation within ACS are addressed, one of the key points of science policy. In addition, ACS is highly involved in the new Cardiovascular Sciences track of the Biomedical Master program of the UvA, which provides students with the knowlegde, skills and network needed for a career in cardiovascular research.
The ACS magazine also provides insight into the fundamental, translational and clinical research that is performed in the Amsterdam Cardiovascular Sciences research institute. Examples of research that is showcased in this edition are: studying the impact of salt sequestration on cardiovascular disease, detecting disease mechanisms in a rare inherited metabolic disease, working on innovative approaches to prevent angioedema attacks and treating acute ischemic stroke by targeting the smallest vessels.
