AGEM is involved in and at the forefront of the Amsterdam UMC-Food for Life initiative. That is why on Thursday October 10th, 2024, the AGEM Food for Life symposium will take place!

The world’s population faces increasing challenges to produce enough food, support health and prevent disease development. In this context, the Food for Life program of the Amsterdam UMC has been initiated to make significant impact on societal wellbeing and healthcare.

On October 10th, 2024, renowned speakers of various academic centers will address three major themes of the program during the AGEM Food for Life symposium.

Public transport

The Nieuwe KHL is easy to reach from Central Station with tram 26 (three stops, get off at the Rietlandpark stop) and bus line 43 (get off at the C. van Eesterenlaan stop). Tram line 7 comes from the other side of the city, but also stops at the Rietlandpark stop.
In addition, there are two bus lines that have a stop nearby: the N89 (stop Oostelijke Handelskade) and the 65 (stop C. van Eesterenlaan).

Car & parking

By car, from the ring road, take exit S114, Zeeburg/Artis. After the Piet Hein tunnel it is another 5 minute drive.

There are several large public parking garages in the immediate vicinity:

  • Brazil shopping center (directly across the street, entrance at the AH), open from Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Free for the first 1.5 hours and then €3 per hour.
  • Nieuw Amerika, Withhoedenveen 10, (at 850 meters) open 24/7. €3 per hour, day ticket €30
  • Q-Park Oostenburg, Dijksgracht, (600 meters) open 24/7. €4 per hour, day ticket €30
  • Very cheap parking (€ 1 per 24 hours) is available at P&R Zeeburg at the beginning of the Piet Hein tunnel. From there take tram 26 (one stop, get off at Rietlandpark).
