Renee Schreurs received a €30,000 research grant September 20, 2021, from Stichting Steun Emma to study human milk-derived extracellular vesicles as a potential therapy for intestinal inflammatory disease. For this study she will collaborate with De Moedermelkbank and the Vesicle Observation Center of Amsterdam UMC.
Schreurs also received the NCHIV Joep Lange & Jacqueline van Tongeren Junior Investigator Award for the best abstract submitted at the Netherlands Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Epidemiology, Prevention and Treatment (NCHIV) this year. This research concerns ‘genetic variation in autophagy machinery is associated with enhanced antiviral T-cell immunity and reduced T-cell exhaustion signatures in HIV-1 infected individuals’.
