In March, AI&I researchers will lace up their running shoes for the Amstelveen Spring Marathon, raising funds for vital research into Post-Acute Infection Syndromes (PAIS). Every donation supports innovative projects to improve diagnosis, treatment, and quality of life for PAIS patients. Support PAIS research—donate today!
Meet the Runner: Roos Klungers
I am Roos Klungers, 25 years old, and a PhD candidate at the infectious diseases and medical psychology department. I will be running the half marathon during the Run for Their Lives event.
Why I Run
First of all, I love running. Being able to run is a privilege, and I feel honored to use it to raise money for those who are not able to.
The Importance of PAIS Research
With the threat of future pandemics, new diseases may emerge that could lead to Post-Acute Infection Syndromes (PAIS), affecting even more people. This makes it crucial to invest in research to better understand, prevent, and treat PAIS.
Goals for the Fundraising Campaign
Besides raising money, I hope this campaign will also increase social visibility for PAIS and the need for more research.
Marathon Preparation
I am preparing for the half marathon using a training schedule from Decathlon.
A Surprising Response
What surprised me most about the fundraising process is that almost everyone I asked was willing to donate!
