Advanced Equipment
The Human CogNeuro Lab is designed to provide students with practical experience using modern research methods in cognitive neuroscience. The lab is equipped with advanced technology such as EEG systems, VR setups, eyetracking technology, and a stereotactic transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) setup. These facilities enable simultaneous EEG, TMS, and eyetracking measurements, even during VR experiments.
Education and Research
The lab will play a crucial role in various bachelor’s and master’s programs at the UvA, including Psychobiology, Biomedical Sciences, Brain and Cognitive Sciences, and Biomedical Sciences. It offers space for new practicals and demonstrations. Additionally, students can conduct their internships/thesis research in the lab, covering all aspects of the empirical cycle.
Preparing Students for Careers
The Human CogNeuro Lab contributes to the goals of the UvA FNWI Quality Agreements by providing students with more time and attention, preparing them for their careers, and strengthening the academic community. By gaining hands-on experience with research tools and methods, students develop skills that are highly valued in both academia and industry.
More satisfaction, publications and media attention
The lab is led by Dr. Jan Willem de Gee, with support from various lecturers and assistants. It is expected that the lab will not only increase student satisfaction but also contribute to student-led publications and media attention for the innovative research conducted here and facilitate collaborations between research institutes.
