The Dutch Cancer Society ('KWF Kankerbestrijding') granted the project 'Individual placement and support (IPS) for unemployed and work disabled cancer survivors', by APH Societal Participation & Health researchers Angela de Boer (associate professor at Amsterdam UMC), Saskia Duijts (senior researcher at Amsterdam UMC), Allard van der Beek (professor of Occupational Epidemiology at Amsterdam UMC), Pieter Coenen (postdoc researcher at Amsterdam UMC) and Michiel Greidanus (PhD candidate at Amsterdam UMC). The researchers used SP&H funding for writing this successful proposal.
The aim of the project is to develop an Individual Placement and Support (IPS) intervention, tailored to cancer survivors experiencing unemployment or work disability, and to evaluate its (cost)effectiveness on paid employment re-entry.
The multidisciplinary, tailored intervention will be based on IPS principles and will be provided by job recruiters and job coaches who are specifically instructed to guide cancer survivors. The (cost) effectiveness of this IPS intervention will be evaluated in a randomised controlled trial with a follow-up of 12 months.
With this grant the project will be executed by a postdoc researcher and a PhD candidate.
