Romy Slebe went on a work visit to McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario in Canada from June 15 to August 1, 2025.
I am very grateful that the APH work visit grant enabled me to spend the summer of 2025 with my inspiring colleagues from the TIMED consortium at McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. Working with data from a large longitudinal cohort study of over 30,000 participants allowed my to strengthen my skills in R programming, systematic data management, and advanced statistical analysis – skills that will continue to benefit my research career. The visit also resulted in a promising manuscript, which we will continue to
finish and publish in the upcoming months. Furthermore, the visit gave me the opportunity to reflect on my PhD trajectory so far, and helped me grow both personally and professionally. Outside of work, I had an amazing time exploring Canada – from wandering through Toronto, to exploring the breathtaking Niagara Falls.
