Valorization is an important topic. But the problem is, we are stuck in our thinking in scientific articles. Time for thinking and doing out of the box. That’s why the Societal Participation & Health program hosted an engaging and inspirational event focused on valorisation.

During the event, attendees were guided through various innovative valorization examples, encouraging them to think beyond traditional methods. Together, they explored how research findings can be made more accessible and impactful for the broader public. Have you ever considered creating The Daily Fable (in Dutch: Fabeltjeskrant) to help dispel myths from your research field to the world? Or launching a social media challenge to engage professionals in your field?

One of the key takeaways was the power of collaboration and creativity in transforming research into real-world impact. Because professionals can really help you in the process of valorization. Professional support can play a crucial role in this process—whether through external partners or organizations like Innovative Exchange Amsterdam (IXA), which is available to assist with all valorization-related questions.

The afternoon concluded with an informal gathering on the 16th-floor balcony of the VU, where colleagues reflected on the day’s insights. As the sun set over Amsterdam, the SP&H colleagues left inspired, ready to make impact in society.
