Prof dr. Cécile Boot has been appointed the new director of APH as of February 1, 2025. She will succeed prof. dr. Martine de Bruijne, who was appointed vice dean of education at the Faculty of Medicine, VU, as of November 1, 2024. We are very much looking forward to collaborating with Cécile Boot and are confident that together we will further strengthen and guide our research institute.
Cécile Boot earned her degree as a biomedical health scientist at Radboud University/Radboudumc. She has been affiliated with Amsterdam UMC for almost 20 years, where she has been closely involved with the research institute since the founding of APH. She started as a postdoctoral researcher, and in 2020 she was appointed Professor of Social Participation and Health.
Within the department of Public & Occupational Health, she leads the section on Social Participation and Health. Her research focuses on healthy work, with a particular emphasis on groups facing vulnerability. She combines this position with a special chair at Radboud University, where her research focuses on the organization and quality of work in elderly care, with a special emphasis on healthy work and sustainable employability.
For her new role as director of APH, she will conclude her special professorship in Nijmegen and fully dedicate herself to her work in Amsterdam.
