The VU Amsterdam Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition Team is excited to announce the launch of the Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition at VU Amsterdam, an incredible opportunity for you to showcase your research, enhance your communication skills, and compete for amazing prizes!
What is 3MT?
The 3MT competition, originally founded by the University of Queensland, challenges PhD candidates to present their research in just three minutes to a non-specialist audience. This is a unique chance to make your research accessible and engaging to the broader public.
Why Participate?

Key Details:
- Eligibility: Open to all PhD candidates currently enrolled at VU. Those who have already been awarded a PhD are not eligible.
- Training Workshops: We will offer science communication workshops to help you prepare for the competition.
- Faculty-Level Selections: For each Faculty/Graduate School, there will be a preliminary round to choose a finalist for the main event.
- Final Competition: Finalists from various Faculties/Grad Schoolswill compete in the main event.
