Focus of research
I am a researcher with a broad interest in Public and Occupational Health (POH). I obtained my PhD on the topic of occupational physical activity and health, in which I investigated the health effects of physically demanding work.
My research focuses on understanding why workers in physically demanding jobs, who are often sufficiently physically active during their work, still have an increased risk of health problems. By gaining insight into the factors that contribute to this, I aim to develop knowledge that helps keep people in physically demanding occupations healthy and sustainably employed.
In addition to my research activities, I have a strong interest in prevention, physical activity, and lifestyle factors within the fields of public and occupational health. An important part of my work is translating scientific knowledge into education, with the aim of helping students understand how people can remain healthy and productive at work for longer.
