Focus of research

Since 2025, I work as a medical doctor (MD) and PhD candidate at Amsterdam UMC. Our research is carried out within the Amsterdam Reproduction & Development institute, under the supervision of Prof. M.A. Oudijk, and in close collaboration with Amsterdam Cardiovascular Sciences (ACS) and the Department of Cardiology. The focus of our research is pregnancy outcomes in women with pre-existing or newly diagnosed cardiac disease. Through advancing risk stratification and optimizing multidisciplinary care pathways, we aim to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes in this rapidly growing and high-risk patient population.

What drives me most is the opportunity to improve care for women with cardiac disease during pregnancy, and to help ensure that every mother and child can begin their shared future in the best possible health. I am passionate about improving pregnancy care for women with complex medical conditions, ensuring prevention-focused, equitable, and personalized support. The complexity of these pregnancies motivates me to rethink how multidisciplinary services can be designed and delivered. By bridging cardiology and obstetrics, I hope to translate research into meaningful advances in patient outcomes and continuity of care.
