General

One of the remarkable aspects of the recent Covid pandemic was how differently people were affected by infection with the same virus: while some people developed severe and even fatal pathology, others came through with barely a sniffle. Evidently, the way our immune system deals with infections is highly variable. What causes this variability? Undoubtedly, genetic factors are in play. However, we increasingly appreciate the critical influence from extrinsic factors, including exposure to related, but also unrelated microbes, microbiota, diet, lifestyle and exposure to environmental toxins. The interplay between these factors is this year’s theme for our Annual Symposium.

Calling all PhD students and postdocs! Share your research by submitting an abstract. Six standout abstracts from each theme (Immunology and Infectious Diseases) will be chosen for presentations during the parallel sessions. If you're not selected for an oral presentation, you will be scheduled for a poster presentation.
